How do can i tell if my water snail is dead or not?

my snail hasnt moved since i put it in my tank. I don't know if its dead or not. i don't want to throw it out if its alive. How do tell if its dead?|||Pour salt into the shell.This scientifically proven to give the snail a mild jump start. You'll see the snail come out for a moment and then go back in where it feels comfortable.|||is it just laying on the bottom or stuck to something?|||If it is just laying there on the bottom of the tank it is probably dead but if it is sticking to somthing it is alive.
