How can i own a giant african land snail in the us leggale?

I whant a giant african land snail but some 1 told me there elgale in the us is there enghy way i can own 1n the us whith out it being aganst the law?|||I'm sorry but there is no way that you can legally own any of the Giant African Land Snail's in the States. While they are amazing snail they are extremely dangerous, and to more than just the 500+ species of plants that they like to devour at a rapid pace. They are so voracious that they often dominate native snail species and kill them off, and breed so rapidly that they can do massive damage to non native environments.

Along with this they carry the rat parasite. This is contracted from simply touching the snails in some cases, or handling them and then getting their mucus into an orifice like your eyes (don't rub your face!). Of course they can also be carrying a few other nasties for you. Luckily none as of yet in the USA have been discovered with diseases.

To cut a long story short the splendid Achatina achatina is not a pet you can keep in the USA, though APHIS (US Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service) loves to pick them up if you find them, you can contact them at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/npb/npbmemb.ht鈥?/a> without fear of any fine or penalty.
