What hapened to the fish and the snail?

My mom's fish has a red spot on its belly. My mom's snail is missing (one remains seen). We don't know what happened to the fish and where the snail went and is our fish bleeding or something because it's like a red spot.|||It depends on what type of fish it is. It may be sick from eating the snail. (Yes, it's sad, but fish eat snails.) I know that when a snail dies, it turns clear and pollutes the water in the tank so your fish may be suffering internal bleeding.|||A little more info might help out. What kind of fish is it, what size tank is it and what type/size of snail is it ? I am guessing that the fish ate the snail, its not uncommon. I dont know about the red spot because it could be a variety of things caused also by a variety.

A couple of things to be sure of :

Make sure the water quality is good (buy a test kit and check)

Make sure there is enough room for whatever fish you have

Make sure your not emptying the tank and replacing all the water when you clean the tank because you will kill off all the beneficial bacteria.

Hope this helps you some.|||some snail varieties will climb out of the tank, zebra or red onion snails(snails of the nerita family) all do this.so it may have gone for a little walk... try looking around the tank or in the canopy.

as far as red spot goes it may indicate a parasite (looks like a pimple) or the fish may be hemmoraging under its skin from either poor water conditions(get a sample tested at a pet shop) or it is suffering from a bacterial infection or it may be a combination of the two . in any event you should check with a local pet shop for a coarse of treatment.|||...your question just made me write this .. THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER...
