My snail laid eggs and i only have one snail in my tank! How can it be possible?

I have a fish tank with two gold fish and a water snail. I've had the snail for about 10 months, and yesterday have noticed that there are snail eggs on my tank glass. How can it be possible for the snail to lay eggs since i've had her for a long time now?|||Not all snails are "asexual". Pomacea has two distinct genders (yes, male and female), Other snails are female but capable of "self fertilization". It would be helpful to know what kind of snail you have as they all have very different ways of breeding i.e some lay eggs, some bear live young.|||O kay

snails are A sexual.

which means they can breed with there selves.

do not feed the baby snails to any fish.

they could have a disease.

and kill the fish

but the snail that had the babies will be fine.

if it is a pond snail, then they will have about 1000 babies each 365 days.

that is a lot.

feed the baby snails flake food.just put it in the tank and they will find it.

GoodLuck

~Shawn P|||yeah your snail is king gay so they fertilize their own eggs, you probably will have a few snails in a couple of days and then they will multiply and so on. A Clown Fish will eat them and take care of them for you if you have real plants these snails are a problem.|||First of all, your snail isn't a she, its an 'it' snails are hermaphrodites. Therefore they can self-fertilize. Be careful, this has happened to me, and your snail population quickly gets out of control|||Maybe they're unfertilized eggs that it laid because it's snail breeding season? XD

Or maybe some species of water snail are asexual (able to breed without a partner).|||Don't fish lay eggs to? Maybe it's the fish
