He's sucking over the areas that are already clean. The areas with visible algae he's just ignoring. When I got him, there was just a little bit of algae on the rocks around old food, now it's all over. Could he be making the problem worse? Should i get a new snail?|||I have snails and a super clean tank. They don't need anything or atleast much of anything to live . They'll live for a VERY long time without you doing anything for them. Put some live aquatic plants in there for him,. You can get them cheap at the pet store.|||I will suggest floating plants because i had the same problem, but does it look healthy because it might be getting all the nutriens that it needs, or it might be eating all the time when you are sleeping. And if your problem is that its not cleaning the tank well enough then you might want to get a few more, because snails dont eat all the kinds of alge , mabie getting different types would help because different types eat different kinds of alge.|||The biggest misconception about snails is that they "like" algea. They will nibble on it but it is not their preferred diet. Let some flakes float to the bottom and if its just one snail then drop a piece of veggie of some sort like a corn kernel or a pea and they love it, also they LOVE live plants.

SNAILS=FOOD. sry thats not wat u want to hear but i cant imagine havin a snail 4 a pet...its weird. but if u value the life of ur precious little snail DONT PUT SALT ON HIM!!!! THATS ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!! (whoevr said is tryin to kill ur snail)|||They love food with salt on it. Sprinkle salt on him and the dirty spots, he'll love it and probably do much better with cleaning, and if not kill the bastard.|||Omen his mouth and shove some algae down. well i don't knoe much of snails but if he wants to eat he'll eat|||You should get a sucking fish, b/c those work pretty well|||Cut his head with a small switchblade until he eats!|||trap him in a box filled with algae n air|||get fish they make scum 4 them to eat|||if he's french get him some excargot|||Maybe leave it and see if he eats|||feed it stuff like leaves and wait a while|||go to pet shop get snail food that u know looks good and wat he might like
