How do i keep an apple snail from laying eggs? Do apple snails make good tankmates for goldfish?

I read that apple snails make good companions for goldfish, then i read that they didn't. whats the truth? and how do i keep the snail from laying eggs? if i cant how do i get rid of the eggs?|||If an Apple Snail is small enough to fit in a Goldfish's mouth, that's where it will go. Snails are also heavy waste producers, they DON'T clean, and Apple Snails will suffer if water quality is not maintained. This is why they don't make good tank mates with Goldfish.

As for the eggs, if you only keep one Apple Snail it won't breed, they are not hermaphrodite snails. The common Apple Snails you find lay their eggs above the water line, these egg sacks can just be wiped off and thrown away.|||If the goldfish is too small to swallow the snails then they do well together, it's just sometimes large goldfish will try to eat apple snails, but you can get some of those pest snails that most pet shops give away.

To keep snails from laying eggs just keep one. They are hermaphrodites but they can't fertilize their own eggs. The snail is also good for eating up any food that your goldfish doesn't eat and for cleaning some of the algae that builds up on your tank.
