I have an aquatic snail, I'm not positive as to what kind, but i want to know how long an aquatic snail can go without eating. Is it more like a week, or more like 3 days? Also, is the only thing they eat algae?|||Some snails are capable of breeding like theres no tommorow. Even on their own, some species are capable of breeding, as they do not have gender differences( both can pee while standing or both prefer you keep the toilet seat down)
But as to your querry, Snails can survive for up to a week without food. And no, they do not only eat algae. I guess if you starvethem by not giving them any food, they'd eat algae. But once they get a taste of fish food, they forget all about algae and instead dine endlessly on much tastier fish sood. Same thing goes for all algae eaters. They may nibble a little but its mostly up to you and your trusty algae scrubber to rid your aquarium of thish most henious, vile evil threat: ALGAE *muhuhuhaha* and keep its inhabitants visible.|||They can eat anything.I never feed my mine and he is still alive. All he eats is the leftovers. They do not always have to eat algie. They can eat bloodworms(frozen),brine shrimp,ect,ect.,ect.They can realy eat any type of food in the tank.

I feed my mystery snail boiled (and then cooled) veggies every 2-3 days. He loves kale, bok choy, zuchini, and spinach. Broccoli is an option too but it's very messy. I also make sure to take any uneaten veggies out of the tank within 24-48 hours so they don't attract detritus worms or spike the tank nitrates
ReplyDeleteUmm, prob a stupid question, but I'm new to 🐌 How on earth do you get the squash to sink to the bottom?
ReplyDeleteYou need to boil it in water for 3 to 4 minutes and then shock it in ice water until it is cool to the touch. This will make it sink as well as make it soft enough to eat for your snail.
